Allerford \ Norton Fitzwarren

Updated: Mar 8, 2023

For this litter pick, we only did 1.48km and were only out about an hour however we couldn’t have gone any further as our bags were full with litter! Overall, we got 8.5kg of rubbish and 7.1kg of recycling, along with a mat weighing 2.1kg.

First, we went to pick up signs in Bishop's Lydeard; we found that the board on which we had placed one of our signs had been redone and our sign had been taken, so we’re down another sign, however we did still have one near the Co-op that we then took down.

We then drove to where we going to litter pick for today – our location was up from a little lane where we had previously picked just around the corner from the Allerford Inn on the way to Norton Fitzwarren. As we got there it started raining and I didn't have a coat! So we waited for a few minutes hoping it would stop - Dad was threatening to make me a coat out of one of the bin bags but luckily it stopped raining and got quite sunny so we went and I didn't have to wear the bag!

We were planning to go further into Norton Fitzwarren but we couldn’t as our bags were full by the time we reached the junction. We found a lot of McDonald's rubbish and lots of squashed Beer and Energy cans along the way. There were also quite a few bottles of Vodka not quite sure what is so nice about that particular lane that encourages people to go and drink there. We also had a pile of things that didn't fit in the bag, some large polystyrene packaging, an electric blanket and the remnants of a door mat - so as we were driving back we made sure to pick them up as well.

Somehow we have lost our luggage scales so we've had to resort to the bathroom scales and some maths to work out our weights!
