Wait - where did December go?

Well, it’s a bit embarrassing really that it has been so long since I last went. Not quite sure what happened. Christmas, the weather, my brothers cyclo-cross and football, horse-riding – it seems silly to say we haven’t had time but we don’t seem to have had time!

Today we decided we had to go. The weather was very cold and icy. This actually made identifying litter a little difficult sometimes because bits of paper with ice on top look a lot like just plain ice. There were a lot of false identifications.

Because it was icy and because Dad had a bit of a cough we decided to stay local. Picking around our local neighbourhood. We haven’t done this since our very first pick way, way back.

Our loop was from Staplehay down through the fields near the weir into and around the park, looping back through the play area and then through the village car park before heading back up to the main road and then home. We were gone about an hour and half in total. They say a picture speaks a thousand words - so you can skip this paragraph and just look at this map if you want!

The worst areas were the bottom corner of the car park near the church – presumably stuff gets blown here when dropped from cars. There was also quite a lot around the entrance to the Memorial hall. We did find stuff all the way along though.

It was very cold today and the flood basin in the Queen Elizabeth II field was frozen over - I did manage a tiny bit of Ice "Skating"

The stats for today were:

Distance: 3.6km

Time: 1:30

Rubbish: 3.1kg

Recycling: 2.4kg
